Gluing the spine edge of the book block.
Cutting paper to make head and tail bands.
Making atrocious round head and tail bands (the paper was too thick so they ended up lumpy).
Making better square head and tail bands with leather and thinner paper.
And finally, the book block with its edges neatly trimmed.
