Fashion & Textile Children's Trust

I spent some time this week at PURE London volunteering for the Fashion and Textile Children's Trust. This lovely little charity provides financial support for children whose parents or carers work in the UK fashion and textiles industries.

I've been trying for half an hour to write something else, but the previous sentence perfectly sums up what the charity does! How about a little history instead? The charity was founded in 1853 by a group of textile merchants to “clothe, maintain and educate the children of warehousemen, clerks and agents of the textiles industry”. It's still doing this today, though with a more up-to-date definition of the textiles industry and its employees.

I'd urge anyone involved in textiles and fashion in the UK to check out the FTCT's website. If you can donate or volunteer then please consider helping the FTCT out. If you have children and you currently need financial assistance then please consider asking them for help!
